53 Top Trends by survey.....

Hi Designer friends,

I know it's some time tough to create a theme and innovate designs. Don't worry and follow these trends and styles ...To Discover the latest jewellery designs and innovations, I outline some of the main themes running through the collections in 2006.

Emerald cabachon with ribbon MotifFlowers; ethinic inflences; an organic mood; fashion-influenced colour combinations;with the designers citing fashion , nature, architecture, and historical designs as their inspirations.

As well as rounded , smooth shapes and the prolific use of cabochon -cut gemstones, this year has also seen greater use of texture in jewellery design, with classic pieces given depth through tonal gemstones or textured surfaces.

So number of key trends and themes can give ous dominating designs..so here i brief 53 designing trends ......one daily so guys catch this up.

1) CASUAL LUXE- There was a strong casual feel to high-end jewel, with silk and cord taking the place of a formal chain on diamond and gem-set- pendants and necklaces.the mood was casual-luxe as designers sought out gemstones in new colours and layeered them on multi- strand chain with pearls , charms and symbols for a bohemian luxury feel.

Gold fabric and flexible mesh designs, often covererd in gems or diamonds , reflected the infuence of draping in fashion and a hint of the 1980's revival .Silk , leather and satin fabrics featured as ribbon ties ,bows and cuffs.

Couture detailing such as stitching , ruffles , lace work , feathers , fur and corsets also featured in many designs.

I personally saw few pieces by a designer in calcutta exhibiton few months back who worked on brass jewellery keeping this casual trend and style ...he was awarded as best innovator...Being a manufacturer and deign i really appreciate that too, which I generally don't do... he worked on urban style living in jewellery... Generally people give fod recipies, but i give a method to make a mesh or wire earing try it....

Mesh Earring Easel
  1. Cut two 18" pieces of armature rods, and form a spiral at each end.
  2. Cut a 4" and 6" piece of rod.
  3. Flatten out the mesh and lay out the rods on it with the two short pieces connecting the long spiraled pieces. Draw a pattern for the wire mesh, marking the inside and outside corners of the easel. Allow about 1" extra space for wrapping the armature rods.
  4. Cut out the wire mesh, inside the marked lines.
  5. Cut a brace 10" long from the armature rod.
  6. Using a piece of embossing metal 1-1/2" x 4", wrap it around the brace rod snugly.
  7. Slip it halfway off the rod, squeeze the end flat, and wrap it around the 6" top cross brace. Slip out the 10" brace rod temporarily.
  8. Now bend the edges of the cut mesh around the four sides of the easel frame. The mesh will hold the four sides together once it is squeezed in place. Use small clamps to hold it in place.
  9. Reinforce the structure by wrapping copper wire around the four sides. Add some curls, bends, and beads.
  10. Add some random lengths of copper chain to dangle from the top loops of the easel.
  11. Install the brace rod into the tube you created, and the easel is complete.

Tip: Monofilament and elastic can get brittle over time. The humidity of a bathroom can help keep jewellery moist. You can hang your jewellery on wooden hooks and keep it inside your bathroom cupboard to prevent the brittleness.

Anyways do leave comments and wait for 2nd trend...ADAPTABLE

Diamonds

Diamond is the hardest known natural material and one of the two best known forms (or allotropes) of carbon, whose hardness and high dispersion of light make it useful for industrial applications and jewellery. (The other equally well known allotrope is graphite.) Diamonds are specifically renowned as a mineral with superlative physical qualities — they make excellent abrasives because they can be scratched only by other diamonds, Borazon, ultra hard fullerite, or aggregated diamond Nanorods, which also means they hold a polish extremely well and retain lustre. About 130 million carats (26,000 kg) are mined annually; with a total value of nearly USD $9 billion. About 100,000 kg is synthesized annually.

The name “diamond” derives from the ancient Greek adamas( “invincible”). They have been treasured as gemstones since their use as religious icons in India at least 2,500 years ago—and usage in drill bits and engraving tools also dates to early human history. Popularity of diamonds has risen since the 19th century because of increased supply, improved cutting and polishing techniques, growth in the world economy, and innovative and successful advertising campaigns. They are commonly judged by the “four Cs”: carat, clarity, colour, and cut. Although synthetic diamonds are produced each year at nearly four times the rate of natural diamonds, the vast majority of synthetic diamonds produced are small imperfect diamonds suitable only for industrial-grade use.

Roughly 49% of diamonds originate from central and southern Africa, although significant sources of the mineral have been discovered in Canada, India, Russia, Brazil, and Australia. They are generally mined from volcanic pipes, which are deep in the Earth where the high pressure and temperature enables the formation of the crystals. The mining and distribution of natural diamonds are subjects of frequent controversy—such as with concerns over the sale of conflict diamonds by African paramilitary groups. There are also allegations that the De Beers Group misuses its dominance in the industry to control supply and manipulate price via monopolistic practices, although in recent years the company's market share has dropped to below 60%.

Prabhat: Among young girls, whose age usually ranges from 16 to 25 years, terra-cotta jewellery is extensively in style. Such jewellery not only harmonises with saris, but also complements salwar kameezs and cotton fotuas. So say goodbye to metal ornaments for a while and feel the charm of traditional terra-cotta jewellery.

Me: terricotta jewellery ....is almost like a clay jewellery....it is not soft clay but a hard substance......it can b coloured and we can stick stones also on it....n like jewellery rhodium plated...these kind of jewellery are varnished and so have shine.....

Kashish: now these days people prefer some real sotnes strings with brass pendants
actually these are very cheap
and you can select from the lot of these designs
real stones means chalcedony and jade
with some real button pearls and some more
metal beads just as an enhancers
the cost of chalcedony tumble is not more than 10-20 rs a pc.
and you can find chalcedony in almost every color
